The analysis of energy productivity and intensity in Turkish industry

The energy case, which effects economic and social life of countries is studied inthis dissertation. The application of energy productivity both in the world and Turkey isdiscussed. Also, energy productivity and energy intensity in Turkish industry is studiedand compared with the other countries on the world. On the other hand, the suggestionsand solutions will be explained which intent to increase the productivity of energy,especially in Turkey.Importance of energy as an input source for all sectors, is increasing day by day,because of the reasons of world?s population increase, industrialization process indeveloping countries and researchs for economic and social progress.In the world, which demand for energy increases but the quantity of energysources decreases, using energy sources in a productive manner has a great importance,especially in industrial sector, using energy, as a main input source for industry, in aproductive way, allows us to produce food and service with low price by reducing theproduction costs. And this provides a huge advantage in the rivalry of internationaltrade.On this context, importance and voriety of energy is clarified, consepts of energyproductivity and energy intensity is explained and relation between the energy andeconomic growth and sustain able development is took up. Energy production andconsumption in the world and Turkey is explained and application of energyproductivity is evaluated. Using energy in a productive way in the industrial sector istook up and also energy productivity strategy for Turkey is explained. Energyproductivity in the Turkish industry. İs analyzed with subsectors in the industrial sectorand it is compared with world countries by means of energy intensity. Lastly solutionsfor problem of increasing energy productivity is presented.
