Abstract (EN)

Violence has always been a part of the humankind since the beginning of known history. Today it is still being used as a tool for problem solving by societies and individuals even though its definition and meaning differs according to societies and time periods. As a result of being part of the culture, violence has a strong influence on painting, literature, music and cinema productions. Violence and its use is shaped by the purposes of the productions that include violence. This study aims to to find out violent behaviours, types of violence and use of violence in selected blockbuster films. At first, content analysis has been completed on films in order to find out types of violence and frequencies of violent behaviours. After achieving the required data, usage of violent content has been examined. Keywords: Cinema, Violence, Types of Violence, Blockbuster Films, Frequency Analysis.
