Green management in the context of sustainability in Turkish universities: the mediating role of green management perception in the effect of emotional intelligence on green organisational behaviour — A mixed-methods study

Integrating sustainability into management has emerged as a strategic imperative for both businesses and academic institutions. In light of the increasing environmental challenges and the diverse expectations of stakeholders, numerous institutions have begun to embrace a green management approach. This transition reflects a commitment to sustainability and the responsible management of resources, fostering a balanced relationship between organizational goals and environmental stewardship.Successfully embedding this approach within institutions necessitates active participation from employees in the sustainability process. Consequently, there is a close connection between emotional intelligence and green organisational behaviour. This study aims to explore the mediating role of green management in the relationship between emotional intelligence and green organisational behaviour. The first section delves into the concept of sustainability in detail, while the second section addresses green management, covering its history, objectives, benefits, and the various types of green organisational behaviour within a theoretical framework. In the third section, a comprehensive overview of emotional intelligence is provided. The fourth section outlines the study's purpose, methodology, data collection tools, necessary analyses, and key findings. The results indicate that emotional intelligence has a significant and positive influence on green organisational behaviour, with green management acting as a partial mediator in this relationship.
