EFFICACY OF AN ARTICULATION THERAPY PROGRAMON /k/, /s/, /tS/ PHONEMES FOR TWOTURKISH SPEAKING CHILDREN WITH CLEFT PALATEABSTRACTCleft lip and palate affect children?s speech development in a variety of different ways.Most of the children may have persistent speech defects which may require long termspeech therapy. Speech therapy management for children with cleft palate is a newlydeveloping area in Turkey, inherent in a few studies conducted.The aim of this study is to determine whether the articulation therapy program offeredby Karen Golding Kushner can be used for Turkish speaking children with cleft palate.The subjects of the study are both 5 years old, diagnosed with cleft soft palate.In accordance with this aim, one of the single subject research models, multiple probemodel with probe conditions, was used and the efficacy of behaviour modificationprogram was inspected with more than one speech sound (behaviour).Inter-rater reliability and application reliability data were collected for the reliability ofthe research and the results were shown in tables (graphics).At the end of the study, it is found that the aim is achieved for all sounds with thesubject having articulation disorder and only for /k/ sound with the subject havingphonological disorder.Keywords: cleft palate, therapy, articulation and phonological disorders
