Problems and solution proposals of companies produced Agaricus bisporus, Pleurotus ostreatus cultivated mushrooms in Turkey

Culture mushroom production and consumption in our country is increasing from past to present as in the world. Turkey began production of cultivated mushrooms in 1960 and it is now moving towards becoming major industries even though many new problems are emerging day by day. The aim of this study is to investigate the production and marketing problems of Agaricus bisporus (white mushroom) and Pleurotus ostreatus (oyster mushroom), which are important mushroom species produced in our country, and to propose solutions to these problems. In the scope of the research, to represent our country in general 16 P. ostreatus producer and 26 A. bisporus producer selected and, 27 questions and 39 jurisdictions for P.ostreatus producer and 26 questions and 39 jurisdictions for A. bisporus producer through face-to-face and telephone interviews questionnaire was applied and evaluated statistically. According to the results obtained, although the differences between P. ostreatus and A. bisporus producers were found to be different in terms of problems and solutions, high energy costs in general, very expensive mushroom spawn, establishment of business without capital and education, culture of our people their eating habits are low and they are among the most encountered problems. Manufacturers against these problems; reduction of energy costs, cheap and domestic production for mushroom spawn, the establishment of enterprises without capital and education is not allowed, due to the fact that our people eating habits of culture mushrooms promoted in this regard, promotion of this issue, the establishment of cooler sections against the risk of mushroom quickly decay as a solution proposal.
