Abstract (EN)

One of the environmental pollution problems caused by rapid population growth, excessive growth, industrialization, urbanization and changes in production and consumption habits is the uncontrolled increase in waste, which differs in terms of amount and content. Wastes harm human life and nature in various dimensions. The prevention of wastes from harming human life and nature necessitated waste management. There are many legal and technical measures to be applied in order to ensure success in waste management, and one of these measures is financial measures. Financial measures in waste management are important in terms of preventing the formation of wastes, reducing the costs of collection, recovery, recycling and disposal of the wastes, and not losing the economic value of the wastes. Although there are many studies on waste management in Türkiye, studies on financial measures directly on waste management are limited and not up-to-date. In addition, studies have generally focused on only a single application or measure. The aim of this study is to analyze the financial measures applied in waste management in Türkiye. Within the scope of the study, the financial measures in waste management were classified and each financial measure was examined in detail theoretically, taking into account the European Union and important country practices in general, and Türkiye in particular, by including numerical data. As a result of the review, the current situation of Türkiye's financial measures on waste management has been revealed and suggestions have been made.
