A new exclusive model on teachingépressure and winds in Turkey"

This research has been conducted to find out whether there is a significant difference in the learning level of students whom have been tought using the applied model, the test group, and the teacher-centered model (based on the instructions of the teacher, questions and answers), the control group, in the teaching of the subject "Pressure and Winds in Turkey", part of the geography curriculum of second grade of high school. The research is based on the experimental approach. The experiment has been carried out in Bekir Gökdağ High School in Central Keçiören in Ankara, on 10th grade equal weight students. Class 10-A has been selected as the test group and 10-B as the control group. 44 students from 10-A and 40 students from 10-B has participated, with a total of 84 students. Equal conditions of subjects has been paid attention to, in terms of size of the class, seniority of the participating teacher, size of the classrooms, heat and lightning. The research uses a pattern of pretest-posttest control group. The three subproblems have all been verified in the research. A test on related subjects have been given as a means of collecting data. The test is prepared by giving it to 100 11th grade students and expert consulting, and it consists of 40 questions. The data analysis is based on the double variance, which assesses the significance of the difference between two variables. The following results were obtained by the double variance analysis: 1. There is a significant difference in favor of the control group in the pretest. 2. There is a significant difference in favor of the test group in the posttest. 3. There is a significant difference in favor of the test group in terms of average scores of pretest and posttest scores. The experiment can be carried out farther over a longer term, different levels of education and different chapters of the education in geography.
