Abstract (EN)

Today, excessive energy use and consequent depletion of energy resources is becoming a major problem. A very important part of the energy expended is consumed by buildings. Heating, cooling, lighting, etc. required for the high energy requirements. Hotel buildings are at the top of the steps of energy consumption ranks. In this study, hotel buildings, located in different climatic zones with different planning shapes will be analyzed by the methodology of ?Building Energy Performance? and buildings? energy performances and emission classes will be determined. BEP-TR is intended to be tested for different scenarios in this study. Factors that influence energy consumption in hotel buildings; * the climate which the building is in, * user density (which in periods and often used), * condition of the building (design, form, application, insulation), * The energy systems (heating, cooling, lighting schemes) are listed. First of all, by determining the requirements of different climatic zones (hot, temperature, etc.), building types, periods of use, density and system preferences (heating, cooling, etc.) will be revealed. According to this determination, buildings? annual energy consumption per m² and CO? emissions shall be calculated by BEP-TR methodology. In this study, energy performances of hotel buildings which have the highest energy consumption rates and have more than one functional space among the non-residential buildings will be calculated by BEP-TR and Design Builder. This study consists five sections that is prepared by exploring the available resources and compiling the data on the subject. In the first chapter, the aim of the thesis is put forward with the literature survey and a hypothesis. In the second chapter, the parameters affecting to the building energy performance are discussed as climatic and structural in the scope of this study. These are climatic elements, general characteristics of selected three different climate zones (temperate humid-warm dry-cold), the location, the form of the building and the features of the building envelope. In the third chaper, the features of BEP-TR as a methodology of calculating the energy performance and Design Builder are described. Some types of calculation methods are explained. In the fourth chaper, hotel buildings of square based and circle based hotels are determined. They are calculated in BEP-TR, which makes energy analyses in only seven, diagonal types of building and Design Builder, which calculates energy loads for every form of building types. In results, parameters which reveal the difference in the energy calculations within the difference in shape, zoning and mechanical system design are evaluated and investigated.
