Abstract (EN)

In this study, the morphological, palinological and micromorphological features, identification keys, descriptions and geographical distribution of the taxa belonging to the genus Acer (Sapindaceae) are presented. In addition, the phytogeographic region for each taxon and the IUCN categories of endemic ones are given. A. cappadocicum subsp. divergens and A. hyrcanum subsp. tauricolum have been recognized as separate species. A. orthocampestre, which was published as a new species in 2014, was evaluated as a synonym of A. campestre subsp. leiocarpum. Acer monspessulanum subsp. oksalianum which is a local endemic taxon and only known from Adana, Kahramanmaraş and Hatay according to the Flora of Turkey, was recorded from Van province with the field studies. The genus Acer, represented with 22 taxa (7 endemic) in Flora of Turkey, has been evaluated with 20 taxa (2 endemic) with this study. The pollen shapes of the taxa are suboblat, oblat-spheroidal or spheroidal, and the surface ornamentations are citriate, citriate-perforate, citriate-rugulate, citriate-perforate, citriate-reticulate or rugulate-perforate. Pollen shape and surface ornamentation are distinctive characters for taxa. Micromorphological studies show that the presence of stomata, trichoma and epicuticular wax structure were determined as distinguishing characters.
