Abstract (EN)

In order to solve the most basic need of shelter, mankind uses trees that can be easily found in its environment as building materials. As a result of the changes that humanity has gone through, the needs in structures that were previously built for sheltering purposes and the building materials accordingly have transformed by gaining different features. One of the important changes affecting our day is the Industrial Revolution. It is a result of the social, economic and technological transformations and events experienced in the European and American continents in the 18th and 19th centuries. These transformations have also shown themselves in the Anatolia. One of the new building materials that emerged after the Industrial Revolution is CLT (Cross Laminated Timber). CLT is a wooden panel layer produced by bringing different layers together with glue or other methods. CLT panels are building materials that can be used both as carriers and in different functions in buildings, have high durability, and can be produced as fire-resistant when desired, thanks to machines in a factory environment. CLT technology will bring a new and very different perspective to the use of wood in buildings in the Anatolia. The potential of wood in the architectural language of Anatolia regarding its aesthetic value and functional aspect can be increased; while at the same time, the economic, ecological and sustainable aspects of wood can be highlighted, its renewable aspect can also be preserved. In this study, in order to investigate the main problems affecting the use of CLT by designers and practitioners operating in the construction sector in Turkey, the priorities that create this and the underlying reasons; the subject is examined in terms of issues such as literature review, semi-structured interviews with expert designers, explanatory survey studies and comparative tables, and observation of how designers develop an attitude towards the use of CLT, their knowledge levels, perceptions of security and aesthetic-beauty expectations. Designers should understand the social shocks and emotional effects in the use of CLT. Educational data should include such emotional content and raise awareness in designers on this issue. It's thought that examining the subject in the context of fire and fear effects will contribute to the literature. Keywords: Industrial Revolution, CLT, Wood, Wood in Anatolia, Wood-based panels
