A study about the translations policies in Turkey

Abstract (EN)

In the recent years, there have been many developments in Turkey in the field of Translation studies. Till today, studies on translation have indicated that translation lead to the formation of new genres in literature in addition to the transfer of culture and thought and its contribution to the development of cultures and enrichment of literatures in terms of content and form since the establishment of the Turkish Republic due to the rapid advancements, Turkish literature has been nourished by the translations of works from different cultures. The aim of this study is to determite whether a translation policy exists in Turkey and how this policy is executed by publishers and translators and also to examine works published in the form of cultural transfer are translated under the influence of a specific ideology. In this study, interviews are conducted with the publishing houses and translators and the facts are revealed about the existing translation policy in Turkey.
