The views of social studies teachers about the integration of Syrian children in Turkey into the education and social studies

The civil war in which Syria dragged means a vital danger for people in that region because Arap Spring, which starts in Tunus,2010, spreads in Suriye in 2011,March.Also, the mass migration starts to the other countries,especially neighboring countries.Turkey is the most affected country because of these migrations.About 4 million refugees defect to the our country by escaping from civil war in Syria.Turkey keeps a part of refugees in camps.However, the large part of refugees spread out in many cities in the country and try to continue their lives. The arrival of Syrian refugees in our country brings along a lot of social, economical and safety problems. The government tries to solve problems with their works. In today, different projects are conducted in order to solve problems of Syrian people in our country. The aim of this study is to tell how Syrian refugees come to the our country and their problems in our country and to evaluate how much efficiency Syrian children get from Social Studies in current system by displaying the studies of the integration of Syrian children into the education.The views of teachers about Syrian students are evaluated by asking questions to the 22 Social Studies teachers in Nizip,Gaziantep and how the problems can be solved is interpreted. The qualitative research method is used in the study.Social Studies teachers in determined schools are interviewed with the interview form.It is tried to determine the properties of current situation,event, group by using survey model.The results of interviews are interpreted using descriptive analysis and tabularizing. At the end of this study,it is understood that the main problem is language differentiation.Also, some situations come out such as communication, the problems of acculturation, the lack of sense of belonging. Providing inclusive society and school by solving these problems is the most important aim of the study.When we think the socializing way of Social Studies , we see that Social Studies can minimize these problems.It is suggested that the education of Turkish language and cultural information should be given to the Syrian students, the culture of literacy should be given to the prospective teachers, Syrian and Turkish parents should visit each other, and cultural activities should be focused on in school and outside school Key words: Syrian refugee children, Social Studies.
