Abstract (EN)
In this study, it was examined whether the financial liberalization policies adopted in the 1980s had any affects on the banking crises which occured, not long after the policies were adopted. In the first chapter of the study, concepts regarding financial liberalization and international capital movements have been explained in great detail.In the second chapter, the period of financial liberalization and the banking crises in Turkey have been explained as well as the impacts of the financial liberalization on the economy of Turkey. In the final chapter, the trend of banking sector after the financial liberalization has been given. In addition, the affects of these trends on the banking crises have been explained. According to the results obtained, very little of the expected positive outcomes of the financial liberalization policies in Turkey have been reached.
