Determinants of household tobacco consumption in Turkey

In this study, it is aimed to determine the socio-economic and demographic factors affecting household cigarette consumption using Double Threshold and Tobit methods through the 2014 TURKSTAT Household Budget Survey (HBS) data. In the study household size, education level, marital status, gender and age are used as socio-demographic variables. The income level of the households is determined as an economic variable. Considering the effects of demographic variables on cigarette consumption decisions, it is found that the effect of household size and education level variables on cigarette consumption is negative.
