Abstract (EN)

Markets, as one of the oldest concepts in history, form the basis of many phenomena. The financial markets, which are the subject of this study, are also examined under two subheadings, money and capital markets. Stocks, which are among the capital market investment instruments, and the functioning of the stock market are the main focus of this study. The birth and development of markets have shaped today's economy and markets. The first formations of the Stock Exchanges and their transformation into the Stock Exchanges we know in the modern sense are based on these historical influences. In order to understand the present and predict the future correctly, we need to analyze history and historical processes well. Exactly for this reason, this study sheds light on both the markets and the concept of the stock market and their historical development. By examining the birth and development of stock markets in the world and in Turkey, it is aimed to evaluate their future correctly. Borsa İstanbul stock market, which has a deep-rooted history, is the main subject of this study. The aim of this study is to reveal the development of the stock market in Turkey in the last 10 years in comparison with the stock markets of some important countries in the world. For this purpose, the annual reports of the Turkish Capital Markets Association were used and the current state of the market was analyzed by using the data of the last 10 years of the stock market.
