Türkiye'nin 2018 genel seçimlerinde Suriyeli sığınmacıların güvenlikleştirilmesi: AKP, CHP, MHP ve İYİ Parti'nin siyasi söylemlerinin analizi

Security has begun to be associated with more than one issue in the modern world. One of them is the issue of international migration, and consequently, there is an increasing understanding of migrating people within the scope of security. In this study, it is aimed to reveal how the refugees who migrated to Turkey due to the conflicts caused by the Arab Spring in Syria in 2011 were removed from the humanitarian focus and associated with the security of the country. For this purpose, the security-oriented statements made by the parties regarding the Syrian asylum seekers in the 2018 general election manifestos were evaluated using the discourse analysis method. The statements of the Justice and Development Party (Adalet ve Kalkınma Partisi, AKP, JDP), the Republican People's Party (Cumhuriyet Halk Partisi, CHP, RPP), the Nationalist Movement Party (Milliyetçi Hareket Partisi, MHP, NMP) and the Good Party (İYİ Parti, GP) in the People's Alliance and the Nation Alliance that secuitize the issue of Syrian asylum seekers have been evaluated within the framework of the securitization theory of the Copenhagen School. Before the 2018 general elections, the government party JDP allied with the NMP. The main opposition party, RPP, signed an alliance agreement with the GP. The main argument of the study is that when viewed from the ideological spectrum, it is seen that parties that are expected to make similar discourses on immigrants develop discourses according to their position in the ruling and opposition wing. Accordingly, it was concluded that the discourses of the opposition Nation Alliance on Syrian asylum seekers mostly reflected its attitude on government policy and made more negative discourses towards asylum seekers. However, it was concluded that the People's Alliance, which is on the government side, made more moderate discourses about Syrian asylum seekers, contrary to their ideological spectrum.
