Adaptation period to the changing world markets for textile and ready made clothing industry

Abstract (EN)

This study is prepared to investigate possiblities of; Turkish products to become more preferable at world markets; increasing the competitiveness of Turkish companies; for their collections prepared and for the sake of their trademarks considering cost as less important criteria; to fullfil the needs to became a trademark, namely, making product diversification at the fields such as R&D, marketing, organization, distribution and training.Industry is composed of raw material, ready-made clothes and fashion products. First group is the mass production products which means 65-70 % of the market. Excess capacity at textile industry is related to these product group. At the second group there are the products which are produced at small batches concerning fashion and having higher added value. Market share of this group is 25-30 %. Third group is fahionate trademark products. Despite of these products having a market share of 5%, because of high added value they effect textile industry positively. As fourth group it is considered the functional products which can only be produced after intensive R&D studies and with the use of high technology.In order to maintain the validity of this study extra information is gathered and to support the findings, ideas of other researchers working at this field is considered. Statistical results are obtained by frequency and percentage distribution. At the findings and comments sections of the study, using the data presented at tables and lists necessary analysis are performed.As a result of this study: Enterprises have to attach importance to design in order to differentiate. An effective design is the key for becoming a trademark which is one of the most improtant factors of competitiveness. With this it is possible for the enterprises to create their own strong trademarksAs the key elements for Turkish enterprises to become succesfull in the world markets it can be listed as; by increasing their abilities for design, quality, efficiency, marketing and distribution to aim the expensive fashion products segment; in order to increase product portfolio preparing a collection and catalog for every season; with an approach considering fashion, quality and trademark as the main focus, to stop producing for other trademarks; in order to prepare original collections to the world markets to train fabric and cloth designers; producing diversified goods; investing on designers, stylists and such creative people; starting to use Turkish product and quality words together; using computer aided production methods; production of envirementally friendly products; rather then making mass production prefering little batch productions; finding more specific markets and to work on satisfying customer needs at those markets; trying to achive trademarked products; geitting patents for such products; to do marketing activities to have stronger trademarks. The suggestions are according to the results of the study.
