Textile sector and informal employment in Turkey

The increasing of informal sector in labor market makes it necessary to research about the informal sector. Determining the position of informal sector is very necessary to understand and interpret the results of it. When the importance of textile sector in the manufacture sector, and the frequency of informal sector in this sector is considered, it is very meaningful to analyse the informal sector?s size in the textile sector. In this research, the size of informal sector in the textile sector is examined. t is looked up to the confection sector in the textile sector and the informal employement in this sector. t is tried to display the causes of this informal sector and the reasons for eliminating this sector. In the first part of this thesis, the informal sector is investigated. In the second part, the Turkish textile sector is examined in detailed, from past to now. In the third part of the thesis, the first two part is joined and the informal sector in Turkish textile sector is investigated, which gives the name of this thesis. To display this relationship more clarity, a survey is done in the confection sector and the results of this survey is betrayed in this part. This thesis is done by the consultancy of assistant proffesor Fethullah Akın, in Gazi University, social sciences institute, at economics department, in 2007
