Abstract (EN)

In this study the subject of necessity modality in Turkish is investigated. Turkish necessity markers, these markers? relationship between the categories of language, such as aspect and tense, their different necessity meanings that they express, how and in which contexts these necessity modalities express thsese meanings and frequency of using are examined. Also the investigating format of the issue in national and international literature are depicted.In the study, the necessity markers are divided into three categories as morphological, lexical and necessity markers that connected with morphology and lexicology. It seems that the main morphological necessity marker is ?mAlI and morfems such as ?(y)AcAk, -(X)yor, -(X/A)r, ? (y)A, ?sA also express necessity. Lexical necessity markers consist of the following words; farz, farz kıl-, farz ol-, gerek-, gerek, gerek duy-, gerek gör-, gerek kal-, gerekli + ek fiil, gerek ol-, gerek var, icap et-, lâzım, lâzım gel-, lâzım ol-, lüzum, lüzum gör-, lüzum kal-, lüzumlu + ek fiil, lüzum ol- , mecbur, mecbur et-, mecbur hisset-, mecbur kal-, mecbur kıl-, mecbur ol-, mecburiyeti var, şart, şart koş-, şart ol-, zorunlu, zorunlu kıl-. Necessity markers that consist morphological and lexical structures are -mA gerek-, -mAk gerek-, -mAk gerek, -mA gerek, -sA gerek, -mA icap et-, -mAk icap et-, -mA lâzım, -mAk lâzım, -mA mecbur bırak-, -mAk mecburiyetinde + ek fiil, -mAk mecburiyetinde kal-, -mAk mecburiyeti var, -mA şart, -mAk şart, -mAk zorunda + ek fiil, -mAk zorunda bırak-, mAk zorunda hisset-, mAk zorunda kal-, -mA zorunlu + ek fiil, -mAk zorunlu + ek fiil, -mA zorunlu ol-.
