Abstract (EN)
With this study, it is aimed to raise awareness of teachers and teacher candidates regarding the points require attention during the implementation of the STEM activities and to examine the appropriateness of each STEM activity according to the STEM approach in detail in terms of benefiting students' learning. With this thesis, it will be determined to what extent the STEM activities focused on have the characteristics STEM approach. In order to carry out the research in line with the determined purpose, the activities were collected in a pool primarily by using the Higher Education Council thesis center, Google Scholar, the existing STEM books in the Turkish literature, and the bibliography of those resources. The gathering of the activities was started in November 2019 and ended as of March 2020. Content analysis method was used as the research design in this thesis. The determined STEM activities were analyzed by the use of the "STEM Activities Analysis Rubric" through content analysis. There are 7 sub-dimensions and 26 items in the ''STEM Activities Analysis Rubric''. The results of the research show that 15% of the activities obtained from the articles, 28% of the activities in the book chapters, and 55% of the activities in the theses are integrated different disciplines into the activity. The 5E model is the most used method in activities. It was observed that in-group communication was allowed in 59 activities examined. In 19 activities analyzed, mentioned redesign step. In 26 of the activities, a rubric was used to evaluate the design process. However, very few studies have evaluated the nature of STEM disciplines. Providing an environment where students will be active in STEM activities, allowing them to do research, and leaving students with the materials and methods they will use in their designs in a more planned manner will ensure that students become more academically successful and have higher motivation.
