Problems faced in art education practices at higher education level in Turkey

The subject of this research is to identify the problems encountered in art education practices at the higher education level in Turkey as of 2023 with statistical data.The aim of the study is to examine the problems encountered in arts education practices at the higher education level in Turkey. For this purpose, the problems faced by institutions serving at the higher education level in terms of art education are discussed. Individual creativity is emphasized in art education, and each individual's personal development and way of thinking is nurtured and directed. Art education takes place in almost every stage of education and training life, but various problems are encountered during this education. In this study, quantitative research methods were used to collect data. A five-point Likert-type rating scale was applied to the art education, knowledge and attitudes of the teachers in the art faculties of the selected universities. The data was collected by using a web.2.0 tool, sending e-mails to art educators in the art departments of Osmaniye Korkut Ata University, Kahramanmaraş Sütçü İman University and Ondokuz Mayıs University.. SPSS program was used for statistical analysis of the collected data. The survey results show that 'physical infrastructure is important for art education institutions', 'human resources are important for art education institutions', 'political environment is not important for art education', 'national culture is not important for art education', 'universal culture is important for art education'. ', 'co-educational models are necessary for arts education', 'social and cultural fields are important for arts education' and 'Acceleration of art is only possible with the right education of art educators' statements were accepted by the majority of the participants. On the other hand, 'cultural and social infrastructure opportunities are not important for art education', 'visual communication field is not very important for the development of art education', 'the relationship between art and education can affect art in society positively or negatively', 'cultural It has been determined that students do not agree with the statements 'art educator is not very necessary', 'pedagogical language is important in art education', 'religion is a factor affecting art education' and 'only workshop courses are sufficient to train art educators'.
