Abstract (EN)

Having a total coastline of 8.333 kilometres and surrounded with three seas, rationalist, efficient and economic usage of marine transportation, which is generally accepted the most cost effective and safest way of transportation in certain traffic and distance modes, has been disregarded in our country. Any development in related with marine transportation, especially the cabotage transportation in Turkish areas is supposed to secure dramatic benefits for total transportation costs of Turkey. ?Cabotage? is the entitlement of a state to transport passengers and goods between domestic ports. It is on our hand to appreciate this right effectively.In this study, the outputs of ?The Project of Field Etude of Cabotage Transportation? carried out by Undersecratariat for Maritime Affairs is assessed and marine casualties? datas occured on the latest decade in Turkish sea areas is evaluated and analysed statistically and the risk analyses of marine casualties in relation with cabotage transportation is scoped out and finally the required precautions to be taken against marine casualties is offered.
