Abstract (EN)
Migration is the movement of people, collectively or individually, from the place where they live to places where conditions are more favorable in order to meet their basic needs. World history has witnessed countless migrations for various reasons. Although there are some Western and Turkish researchers who argue that the Turkish way of life is nomadic, it is not possible to agree with them. Because it would not be correct to say that Turkish society, which has a deep-rooted culture, a strong tradition, and has founded countless states, is nomadic in the full sense of the word. For this reason, it would be more appropriate to use the term nomadic rather than nomadic society for the Turks, taking into account the reasons fort he migrations. The fact that the Turks did not exhibit the lawlessness and disorder of other nomadic societies supports this idea. In fact, the existence of rules regulating state administration and social life, as well as the concept of homeland, are the greatest proofs of this. Analyzing both written sources and oral sources such as epics and legends, it becomes clear that migration is not just a mass movement of people. Again, migrations took place not only with conquests to places considered sacred, but also because of difficult climatic conditions, population growth, and political conflicts. In the introduction, the meaning of the Turkish name, the rumors about the Turkish ancestry, the Turkish tribes, beliefs of the Turks and the soursces used in the thesis are given. In the first chapter, the concept of migration is emphasized, its definition, types and reasons are mentioned. In addition, information about the nomad and the nomadic way of life is given. In the second chapter, the characteristics of the geography where the Turks lived and the social structure were explained. The migrations of the Turkish communities are analyzed under two headings as B.C. and A.D. information is given about the migrations of the Hun, Uighur, Gokturk, Oghuz communities, especially the tribal migration, and the communities that migrated to Europe and the Balkans. The impact of migrations on social life is interpreted in detail with the help of epics and legends. In the last part of the study, the causes and consequences of Turkish migrations are emphasized. The causes of migrations are discussed as economic, geographical, social and political. In addition, the effect of the understanding of world domination, which is important in terms of reflecting the character of migrations, is analyzed. The results of Turkish migrations are evaluated under two different headings in terms of world and Turkish history. Turkish migrations from the earliest times of B. C. to the XI century A. D. are described by emphasizing Turkish identity and tradition. It has been established that the Turks were not only a nomadic community in the simplest sense, but that each migratory movement had economic, geographical, social and political reasons. The study, which deals with Turkish migrations in a broad sense, expresses the processes that Turks went through in order to acquire a homeland. Turkish migrations are explained in terms of their place in Turkish legens and epics and the ideal of world domination that shapes social and political life. Key Words: Migration, Turk, Pre-Islamic, Nomadic, Nomad.
