A study over some agricultural and technologic characteristics of inter-specific cotton hybrid (Gossypium hirsutum L.x Gossypium barbadense L.) F1 and F2 generation

Abstract: In this study, with the aim of determining the appropriate genetic structure of Stonville 468 variety belonging to Gossypium hirsutum L. cotton species and Gizza 75 variety belonging to Gossypium barbadense L. F1and F2 hybrids of species in addition to relations between properties.In this study, plant height, fruiting brunch number, boll number, boll yield, ginning turnout, 100 seed weight and fiber strenght properties were significantly difference for 1 % with regard to statistic; number of monopodial branch, boll seed cotton weight, fiber length and fiber fineness were not significantly with respect to statistic.In study, planth height, fruiting brunch number, boll number, boll seed cotton weight, boll yield, ginning turnout, 100 seed weight, fiber length and fiber fineness properties were influenced positive; number of monopodial branch and fiber fineness properties were negative effected by F2 regression.In Stonville 468 x Giza 75 hybrid combination with regard to boll number, boll yield and ginning turnout showed positive and significant heterosis and heterobeltiosis. It was concluded that Stonville 468 x Giza 75 hybrid combination might be effective in cotton breeding program to improve yield and quality cpmponenets.
