Abstract (EN)

In this study, the differences between Russian wheat aphid, Diuraphis noxia (Hemiptera: Aphididae) populations, a important pest of wheat, populations in Turkey were determined and local and international wheat lines were evaluated for the resistance to the pest. Studies for population differences were conducted in controlled conditions with differential set of wheat genotypes, that includes different resistance genes, originated from United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). It was determined that any different pest biotypes exist in Turkey, according to the leaf chlorosis and leaf rolling reactions of different aphid populations of wheat genotypes in differential set. However, Izmir population was found to be the most virulent population. Local and international wheat genotypes, previously found resistant in laboratory studies, were tested in open field conditions with İzmir population. In this study, the evaluation was also evaluated with the consideration of leaf chlorosis, leaf rolling and yield components. Local wheat lines numbered TR 65, TR 95, TR 151, TR 172, TR 180 and TR 184, international wheat lines PI 625140-1, PI 626580-4, PI 625123-3, SA2199/4* Tugela, BettaDN, Caledon, 95262, 89028 and 178497 pedigree were found as genotypes showing high degree resistance to pest in terms of leaf chlorosis and leaf rolling. Especially international wheat genotypes became prominent against local genotypes in terms of yield components. Depending on the results obtained within the thesis work, genotypes that can be used as genitor plants in future resistance hybridization studies in Turkey against D. noxia pest were determined.
