Abstract (EN)

Self-determination, the right to self-determination In the 20th century, Europe beganto be implemented, and some people stried to gainin dependence through states ecessionando thers to gainautonomy. In this context, it is possible to discuss the Northern Iraq and Catalonia referendums, which form the position, in the context of self-determination. Today, the media is continuing to in crea seall its validity and power. This is seen in the news media, in the news press. The press reproduces reality through representation, one of its most powerful functions. At this point, this study will examine how there cent referendums on Northern Iraq and Cataloniaa rehandled in the Turkish press in the context of self-determination. It is aimed to show how the Turkish press approached these two referendums, whether theyad dress them in the context of self-determination, and which concepts the yevaluate referendums. This review has beenconducted on selected Cumhuriyet, Sabah, Habertürk and Bianet newspapers. Inaddition, the obtained data were analyzed as a method of contentand discourse analysis.
