Abstract (EN)

In this study, the International Criminal Court trial process, the Rome Statute and the court's practical implementation are examined. The International Criminal Court is the first permanent international court that deals with the most serious crimes from the perspective of the international community, such as genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes and aggression. At the same time, this judicial body, which ensures that those responsible for international crimes are brought to justice, is a clear indication that an important step has been taken towards respect for peace, human rights and the rule of law. For the first time, crimes that have international repercussions, whether because of personal interests or to the state, were established on a legal basis with the acceptance of the majority of the administering powers, and offered the possibility of imposing penalties for these crimes as a result of the trial according to predetermined criteria. In the current time period in which communication, outreach, unity and diversity of people and nations is increasing with each passing day, the nations that make up the majority of the international community have the same unity and position within the scope of international crimes as a way to protect and respect the natural and human values such as peace, human rights, rule of law and building faith and trust. Of course, the continuation of this belief and trust depends on the implementation of the investigation and trial before the International Criminal Court according to the predetermined rules, and the implementation of decisions according to the same rules.
