The research of the relationship between success - failure and locus of control for volleyball players of league at university

SUMMARY The goal of this research is to study the relation between the locus of control with success and failure of the university athletes dealing with the sport of volleyball; and is to give a scientific approached explanation to the causes that effect the volleyball players' success and failure. The research is carried out from the data obtained from the students played in the teams of the universities participated in the Interuniversity I. League Volleyball Competition in the 1999-2000 and 2000-2001 academic year. In this study, "Wingate Sport Achievement Responsibility Scala (WSARS)" (1) test was used as a vehicle to gather the data. Developed by Hasırcı for Team Sports, "Sporda Başarının Sorumluluğunu Alma Ölçeği (SBSÖ)" was used. In the analysis of the data, t-test, one-side varience analysis (ANOVA) and "Tukey-B Meaningfulness Test" were used. The results were obtained from this study showed that score, gender, income, the peribol of the playing time at the university team did not effect the athletes' score after competition. On the other hend, competition time, sport type, training and relation between trainer and athlet effect the control mechanizm of the athletes.
