The effect of physical activity on emotional appetite in university students

Abstract (EN)
This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of emotional appetite on physical activity in university students. For this purpose, a questionnaire study was applied to 339 students between the ages of 18-65, studying at Yeditepe University. General information questionnaire form, emotional appetite questionnaire (EMAQ) and International physical activity questionnaire-short form (IPAQ) were applied to the participants in the data collection tool and their anthropometric measurements were recorded. In our study, the emotional appetite questionnaire was used to determine the emotional appetite states of the individuals. An International physical activity form was used to determine the level of physical activity. Throughout the research, the data were applied online with a questionnaire. 75.2% of the participants are women and 24.8% are men. As a result of our study, positive emotion and state scores of male students were higher than female students and this was statistically significant (p <0.05). A significant correlation was found between female individuals' positive emotion and state total scores and negative emotion and state total scores and body weight and BMI values (p <0.05). A significant correlation was found between female individuals' positive emotion and state total scores and negative emotion and state total scores and body weight and BMI values (p <0.05). It was determined that there was no significant relationship between positive emotion and state total score, negative emotion and state total score and anthropometric measurements in the emotional appetite questionnaire of the male students participating in the study. There was no statistically significant relationship between physical activity and emotional appetite variables of the participants (p> 0.05).As a result, the relationship between emotional appetite and physical activity should be examined in more detail and individuals' awareness of their emotions and situations, eating behaviors and physical activity relationship should be increased.
