Abstract (EN)

The main purpose of this study was to explore the relationships between university students' impulsivity, romantic relationship satisfaction and loneliness levels. In addition, in the study, whether or not the variables of impulsivity, romantic relationship satisfaction and loneliness differed according to sociodemographic characteristics was examined. Determined by convenience sampling method, the study group included 371 students who were getting their associate and undergraduate degrees at Çağ University, Toros University and Mersin University. Among these students, 148 female and 64 male students had an existing romantic relationship. In the study, as data collection tools, the Barratt Impulsivity Scale was used to measure impulsivity, the Relationship Satisfaction Scale to measure romantic relationship satisfaction, and the UCLA Loneliness Scale to measure loneliness. Also, the Personal Information Form developed by the researcher was used to collect personal information. In data analysis, Social Sciences statistical program was used depending on the variables, and frequency, percentage, Pearson correlation coefficient, independent samples t-test and multiple regression analysis technique were performed. The study results revealed that the sample's impulsivity predicted loneliness and that as the impulsivity increased, the loneliness also increased. The impulsivity of the students in a romantic relationship predicted their romantic relationship satisfaction and as the impulsivity increased, the relationship satisfaction increased. In addition, the impulsivity and romantic relationship satisfaction of the students who had a romantic relationship were also significant predictors of loneliness. According to this, it was concluded that as the relationship satisfaction of university students who have a romantic relationship increases, their loneliness decreases, and that as their impulsivity increases, their loneliness increases.
