Abstract (EN)
Objective: This study aims to define the physical activity levels, insomnia and the psychological well-being of university students and showcase the relationship between these factors. Material and Methods: 702 volunteer students of Marmara university faculty of health sciences and faculty of art and sciences constitute the sample of the research conducted with descriptive and correlation-seeking design in between October to November 2019. The necessary ethical consent is taken from participants. The data is collected through the use of participant information form made out of 23 questions, International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ), Bergen Insomnia Scale (BIS) and Psychological Well-being Scale (PWBS). Descriptive statistic, Mann-Whitney U Test, Kruskal Wallis test, Ki Square test, Logistic Regression Analysis and Post-hoc Games Howell Analysis are used to evaluate the data. Result: Study shows that out of all students %20,4 are inactive, %57 are minimally active and %22,6 are sufficiently active. Data shows that %59,3 of the participants suffer from insomnia. It is discovered that the participants are above the PWBS mean (40,23±8,18). Data shows that students having a bad psychological state suffer more from insomnia and one point increase in the PWBS total score reduces the risk by a multiplication of 0,972. Study shows that having bad familial relations increase the risk of suffering from insomnia by multiplication of 1,512, continual headaches increases the risk by multiplication of 2,504 and using phones in bed increases it by multiplication of 1,760. Conclusion: It is observed that high level of physical activity has a positive correlation and insomnia has a negative correlation with psychological well-being. It is determined that the increase in psychological well-being score reduced insomnia. Key words: University students, physical activity, insomnia, psychological well-being
