Honor concept of university students about women and the perspective of violence against women on behalf of honor

Abstract (EN)

This study was conducted to investigate the role of the perspective of honor in the impact of violence on women. In addition, the relationship between the concept of honor and the violence against women in the name of honor, was determined and whether these variables differ according to demographic characteristics was examined. The sample of the study consisted of 386 students from Beykent University who were determined by convenient sampling method. Relational Screening Model was used in the research. 'Personal Information Form', 'Attitudes Towards Violence Against Women on Behalf of Honor Scale (NKÜŞTO)' and 'Women's Honor Approach Attitude Scale (KİNATÖ) ' were used for data gathering. Kruskal Wallis H, Anova, Mann Whitney U, and Independent Sample t tests were used for data analysis. As a result of the research, it is seen that there is a statistically significant relationship between the concept of honor and the variables of violence applied to women for the sake of honor. There was a negative sand statistically significant relationship between total scores of NKÜŞTO and KİNATÖ (r=-,662; p<0,05). It was determined that there was a negative, statistically significant relationship between KİNATÖ General Honor Understanding subscale and NKÜŞTO scores.
