Abstract (EN)

In this study, it was aimed to examine the relationship between psychological resilience, nomophobia and psychological distress levels of university students. The research group consisted of 823 students between the ages of 18-30 studying in various faculties at Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University during the 2022-2023 academic year. Research data were collected using the; Brief Psychological Resilience Scale, Nomophobia Scale, Depression Anxiety Stress (DASS-21) Scale and Personal Information Form. In this study, a relational model was used to examine the relationship between psychological resilience, nomophobia and psychological distress among university students. For data analysis, a t-test, one-way analysis of variance, and simple linear and hierarchical regression analyses were used. When the results obtained were analyzed; it was concluded that nomophobia showed a significant difference according to gender, age and hours of smartphone use, but did not show a significant difference according to faculty and year of owning a smartphone. Psychological resilience and psychological distress variables were found to differ significantly according to gender. Psychological resilience predicts all sub-dimensions of nomophobia (not being able to access information, losing connection, not being able to communicate, sacrificing comfort) significantly and negatively, psychological resilience predicts all sub-dimensions of psychological distress (depression, anxiety, stress) significantly and negatively, and all sub-dimensions of nomophobia predict all sub-dimensions of psychological distress significantly and positively. As a result of the study, it was concluded that nomophobia has a partial mediating role in the relationship between psychological resilience and psychological distress. The findings were discussed based on the existing literature and recommendations were presented. Keywords: University Students, Psychological Resilience, Nomophobia, Psychological Distress
