Abstract (EN)

This study examines the impact of social media's digital marketing strategies in the field of education on students' university preferences. While we witness the intensive use of social media platforms, which have become indispensable in every aspect of our lives, for promotional purposes by private universities, it is seen that public universities are slowly trying to complete this deficiency. It analyses how the use of social media has evolved worldwide and in Turkey, the most popular platforms and the reliability of digital media marketing. In addition, issues such as perception management and the impact of social media on student preferences are also examined. The research aims to fill the gap in this topic to better understand the role of social media in the education sector and the determinants of university preferences. With the survey study conducted on Niğde Ömer Halisdemir University students, students' social media attitudes, perceptions and how they are affected by social media in their decision-making processes were investigated.
