Investigation of the usage of social areas in universities: Town university, out-town and in-town campuses

The aims of the universities are; to make the youngs gain occupational skills with academical training and practice, to produce knowledge by carrying out applications and investigations which have scientific, social and economic bases, to prepare the young for community life by giving them duties and responsibilities, to make contributions to social, educational and conscious level of the community.Students, during their educational life, spent most of their times which are out of their lectures in social and culturel activity areas in universities. These areas have importance for providing a culturel trade in wealthy surroundings which are formed by university students who have different culturel, ethnic and social origins.In this state, the usage of social and culturel activity areas in different university campus systems (town-university, in-town and out-town campuses) by university young are investigated; with the questionaries done in universities, the usage of social and culturel activity areas in campus systems in İstanbul are evaluated with comparing.The concept of universities, historical progress, out-town universities, settlement systems of campuses, activity areas etc. are investigated in registered sources about the concerned subject. The knowledge, which is formed after the registered source research, is explained in different tittles. In questionaries, Bahçeşehir University Beşiktaş Campus as town university, Yıldız Teknik University Yıldız Merkez Campus as in-town campus, Koç University Sarıyer Campus as out-town campus are investigated. Statical analysis is applied to the datum which are obtained from the questionaries done in the choosen universities. At the end of all investigations, some evaluations about the sufficiency of social and culturel activity areas in campuses, when university youngs use these areas mostly, reachability, profile of users of the activity areas and town usage as a culturel area, are obtained.Keywords: University, campus systems, town university, out-town and in-town campuses, social area usage in universities
