Abstract (EN)
The purpose of the study is to investigate the motivations for participation in electronic sports and physical activity among students in university electronic sports clubs. The sample of the study consists of 446 students attending state and foundation universities in Turkey. The Electronic Sports Participation Motivation Scale developed by Öz and Üstün (2019) and the Physical Activity Participation Motivation Scale developed by Demir and Cicioğlu (2018) were used as data collection tools. Nonparametric tests, Mann Whitney-U and Kruskal Wallis tests were used in the analysis of the data. Spearman Correlation analysis was conducted to determine the relationship between the scales. According to the analysis results, significant relationships were identified in the subscales of the Electronic Sports Participation Motivation Scale with variables such as age, gender, body mass index, mother's education level, and father's education level. Significant relationships were also identified between the subscales of the Physical Activity Participation Motivation Scale and variables such as age, body mass index, and the presence of other family members who participate in sports. Moreover, a weak positive relationship was detected between the "Taxonomy" subscale of the Electronic Sports Participation Motivation Scale and the "Environmental Reasons" subscale of the Physical Activity Participation Motivation Scale; a strong negative relationship was found between the "Competition and Achievement" subscale and the "Acausality" subscale
