Abstract (EN)

In the research study titled "Evaluation of the Curriculum of Turkish Folk Dance Departments in Universities," the program outcomes and course plans of university departments offering education in the field of Turkish Folk Dances as of 2024 have been examined. In this research, the course names in the curricula of university departments of Turkish Folk Dances were identified and classified. By determining the similarities and differences in the course names, the current situation's advantages and disadvantages were discussed with the aim of guiding future studies. Additionally, it can be said that the compilation of the departments' curricula will facilitate future research. In the first section, the field and historical processes of the institutions that are the subject of the research were examined through an extensive literature review, and the content and themes forming the basis of the data analysis were identified. In the second section, the definition and scope of the institutions constituting the universe of the research were examined, and the scope and terminology of the research were determined. In the third section, the course plans of the Turkish Folk Dance departments of the ten universities, which are the subject of the research, were presented in tables, examined, and subjected to content analysis. By making comparisons, the themes in the course names and contents in the curricula were identified and analyzed. Common themes and differences were determined, and general issues were discussed. The qualitative data obtained were interpreted to serve as a source for subsequent studies.
