Abstract (EN)

Urartu State, which governed approximately between B.C. 900 and B.C. 300, dominated over the region which expands until southern part of Armenia at north, Malatya at west, Urumiye Lake at south and southern part of Azerbaijan at east as Van being capital.Urartians, who withstand against other forces of its term for a long time with quality of its defense structures, mobility and equipment of its army, was especially effected on many military aspects by Assyria State which lied south of Urartu State. Strengthening constructions were constructed as parallel to trade routes of region, fertile lands and mineral stratums, thus area authority was established as main strategy.In this study, Urartian military organization is investigated with its all details and supported by comparing with other regional military formations.Key Words: Urartian, Defanse, Citadel, Garrison, Military, Strategy, Weapons
