Architectural drawing as a medium of a generative dialogue

This study is written on some various themes. Basically, according to one of these basic themes, architectural drawings acquires a medium position in designing process of the architectural space. In addition to this, medium character of drawings have a dialogical feature in this point of view. This feature can be visible in two moments of design. First, the moment that space is designed and the second is when an architectural drawing is read. These two moments helps researcher to show an interaction when a dialogue can be emerged at that time. Dialogue can be consider as a conversation, in the presence of a medium. In this manner, research can use methodology of linguistic and communication theory according to this argument stated above. An extended literature review and improved argument can be found through the text. Main contribution of the thesis would be a new perspective and distinctive study on architectural drawings in the context of architectural design. Architectural representation is one of the main field in architecture which is the ultimate way of communication by a designer with himself/herself and with other colleagues, academicians, student, clients, and the public. Assuming the main contribution will be the analytical interpretation about the medium and the modes of representation, scope is narrowed to architectural drawings and their communicative competency between the various subjects of the discipline. As introduced in the whole core of the text, drawing examples of Aldo Rossi, Peter Eisenman and Bernard Tschumi can be seen as a medium which constructs a generative dialogue.
