Abstract (EN)

In the continuous billet casting process known as an important steel production process, many variables can coexist. It is important to use the appropriate parameters in the production of billets which can be accepted as semi-finished products. In order to meet the quality requirements in continuous billet casting production activities, researches have been carried out on subjects such as steel analysis, refractory materials and continuous casting parameters. When the final product (billet) produced in the continuous billet casting process is examined, steel quality, refractory materials used, plant equipments, operational applications, etc. Various defects have been observed depending on the parameters. In this thesis, product defects that occur in the production of billet; "Internal structure defects", "surface quality and surface defects" and "shape and size defects" have been grouped into three main categories and investigated. The billet material produced in the continuous casting plant; production quantity, quality and defect distribution of these products. Defects on macro and micro structures were examined on the billet samples. In order to investigate inclusion defects in samples with high production quantities, an optical microscope and SEM image were taken and EDS analysis was performed. In addition, the EDS analysis of the SEM image was performed on the white powder defect. As a result of the study, it has been seen that the parameters of continuous casting process and liquid steel in continuous billet casting defects are reflected in the quality results.
