Abstract (EN)

The aim of our study was to evaluate the relationship between radiation retinopathy and inflammatory blood parameters in patients diagnosed with radiation retinopathy after radiotherapy for uveal melanoma. Ninety seven patients with radiation retinopathy following radiotherapy for uveal melanoma in Hacettepe University Medical Faculty Ophthalmology outpatient clinic were included in the study. The inflammatory blood parameters of the patients before the diagnosis of radiation retinopathy were compared with the inflammatory blood parameters after the diagnosis of radiation retinopathy. Neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), monocyte-lymphocyte ratio (MLR), platelet-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), systemic inflammatory response index (SIRI) and systemic immune system index (SII) values were calculated. The changes in inflammatory blood parameters before and after the diagnosis of radiation retinopathy and the relationship between these changes and clinical findings were evaluated. The data were analyzed with SPSS (Armonk, NY: IBM Corp.) program. İn conclusion, a statistically significant increase was observed in NLR (p<0.001), MLR (p <0.001), PLR (p <0.05), SIRI (p <0.001) and SII (p <0.001) values after diagnosis of radiation complications. The inflammatory process occurring concurrently with radiation retinopathy was considered to contribute to the increase in inflammatory biomarkers. Key words: Radiation retinopathy, neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio, monocyte lymphocyte ratio, platelet-lymphocyte ratio, systemic inflammatory response index, systemic immune inflammation index
