The parasomnia perception of individuals who were diagnosed "Parasomnia" applied to sleep disorder clinic and this perception's effect to the stress level and anxiety and depression

Parasomnia,has been defined as physical events or experiences occur at the time of sleep or sleep transition and waking up .This events characterized by sleep related abnormal motions, behaviours,feelings, perceptions dreams and otonomic nervous system functions. The aim of this survey is examining the effect of stress level and anxiety, depression which occurs in the direction of the rumanatif personality traits and their illnesses conception of Individuals who were diagnosed "Parasomnia". In literature ıt was stated that many psychiatric, neurologic ,diseases and sleep disorder can cause parasomnia. It was considered as to our study that depression anxiety and stress arising from parasomnia may occur in the way of ruminative thinking. For this purpose .82 subjects who were diagnosed parasomnia, applied to sleep disorder clinic (30 woman,52 man ) was practised Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS) and Ruminative Responses Scale (RRS) which is adapted parasomnia and self description form reformed by researcher. Scales are found reliable by calculating their Cronbach Alpha's coefficients. Correlational calculations between the sleep disorder in parasomnias group and ruminative thinking, depression, stress and anxiety disorders was made by using ANOVA and Independent Samples T Test. In the considerations of the findings. It was observed that, women were taking higher scores than men when examining rumination points of people who were diagnosed parasomnia. A semantic relation was occurred between depression, stress, anxiety disorders and ruminative thinking way of individuals who have the sleep disorder in parasomnias group. The more ruminative thinking the more depression stress and anxiety. Our findings shows that parasomnia sleep disorder can cause the emergence of depression and anxiety disorder.
