Vakıf üniversitesindeki öğretmen adaylarının çevresel farkındalığı ve endişeleri

The purpose of this study is to investigate the environmental awareness and concerns of pre-service teachers in the Graduate School of Education in a private non-profit university Ankara in terms of some demographic factors such as gender, subject area, and length of time in a private non-profit university, Ankara. The Revised New Ecological Paradigm (R-NEP) scale and ten interview questions are used in the present study. The findings revealed that one hundred pre-service teachers have moderate environmental awareness and concerns. The internal consistency of the scale was 0.67. There were significant difference between the pre-service teachers? environmental awareness and concerns with respect to their subject area, and length of time at the university except gender. Also, somesuggestions about environmental education are given in this study.Key words: Environmental awareness and concerns, environmental education, New Ecological Paradigm Scale
