Abstract (EN)

In this thesis study, the reactions of vanadium compounds with pyromellitic diimide (PMD) were investigated, and the synthesis and characterization of the resulting compounds were carried out. The hypothesis of the thesis study is that PMD would undergo hydrolysis to form new ligands with different binding modes. But 1,2,4,5-benzenetetracarboxylic acid (BTCA) unexpectedly occurred under hydrothermal synthesis conditions with VOSO4∙xH2O as a catalyst. BTCA partially ionizes to form 1,2,4,5-benzenetetracarboxylate ion (BTC ligand). BTC bonded to vanadium ions in the reaction vessel to form a previously reported MOF compound [VIV2O2(H2O)2BTC]∞ by Cevik et al. 2007. The compound obtained by using PMD was compared with [VIV2O2(H2O)2BTC]∞ by physical properties, elemental analysis (CHNS), FTIR spectra, TGA and DTA curves, manganometric titration results, room temperature magnetic moments, and XRD powder diffraction patterns. Analytical studies revealed that both compounds are chemically the same compound. As a result of the synthesis study, no other coordination compound were obtained in crystal form.
