Abstract (EN)

Citizen budget is a document that aims to present complex and technical national budget documents in a clear, understandable and simple format that citizens can understand. This document aims to convey the key elements of the budget to citizens in a clear and accessible way by using infographics and visuals. Therefore, citizen budget is a mechanism that covers the enacted national budget and other stages of the budget process and aims to increase the transparency and accountability of the government. In addition, the citizen budget is not an alternative to the national budget document, but an additional document produced by political authorities and policy makers to ensure that citizens better understand budget documents and the budget process. In this context, the subject of this study is to examine the impact of the citizen budget on citizens' budget awareness in Istanbul, Gaziantep and Şanlıurfa provinces. The final aim of the study is to analyze the current status of the awareness level of citizens living in Istanbul, Gaziantep and Şanlıurfa towards the state budget and the factors affecting budget awareness.
