Vehbe Ez-Zühaylî's approach to the stories of the Qur'an in the context of the stories of the prophets in his work entitled 'Et-Tefsîru'l- Münîr'

The Holy Qur'an is the divine book sent by Allah (swt) to guide people with its commands, prohibitions, principles, and messages. While people are asked to reflect on the verses, try to understand them, and obey the commands and prohibitions, the Qur'an has certain styles and methods to convey its messages and present its principles. Stories about the events experienced by past prophets and nations are one of the methods the Qur'an uses to convey its messages. It is noteworthy that the verses about stories account for more than a quarter of all the verses in the Qur'an. Commentators have also emphasized the importance of stories, employing various methods and techniques in their narration, and their approaches to interpreting stories have varied depending on the authors' perspectives. This study, titled "Vehbe ez-Zühaylî's Approach to Qur'anic Stories in the Context of Prophetic Stories in His Work Et-Tefsiru'l-Münîr," consists of an introduction and two sections. The introduction section includes a source evaluation that explains the thesis's problem, purpose, method, limitations in terms of content and sources, and how it differs from previous studies on the subject. The first section provides introductory information about the author of Tefsiru'l Münîr, Vehbe ez-Zühaylî, including his life, education, duties, and works. The dictionary and technical meanings of the concept of "story" in relation to the subject, the purposes and functions of stories in the Qur'an, their classification, and methods of narration are discussed. In addition, Tefsiru'l-Münîr is introduced, and its characteristics, sources, methodology, and place in the science of exegesis are examined. The second chapter examines Vehbe ez-Zühaylî's approach to stories. According to this, it is evident that Zühaylî considered stories to be one of the educational methods of the Qur'an and therefore placed great importance on many aspects in his approach to stories.
