Velid b. Mughira and his opposition to Islam

Walid b. Mughira was the leader of the Quraysh tribe and one of the prominent leaders of Mecca during the early days of Islam. He was known as a respected and influential person in Meccan society and also became an important symbol of the opposition against Islam. Thus, the main purpose of this thesis is to examine Walid b. Mughira's oppositional attitude towards Islam and to analyze his strategies towards Islam, the reasons behind these strategies and the effects of this opposition on the spread of Islam. In the first chapter of the study, information about the life of Walid b. Mughira, his family and the tribe he belonged to is given, and then his position in the Meccan society and his leadership qualities are discussed. In particular, his role within the Meccan aristocracy and his relationship with other influential figures are detailed. The second chapter in the study tried to explore how Walid b. Mughira developed his stance against Islam during its early years, by examining the social and political context behind this opposition. The thesis also aims to uncover the religious and ideological motivations behind Walid b. Mughira's actions against Islam. In this context, the personal characteristics attributed to him in the Quran and their influence on his strategies against Islam are analyzed. The study provides an in-depth examination of Walid b. Mughira's personal traits, his anti-Islamic activities, and the impact of these activities on Meccan society, all illuminated by relevant Quranic verses. In conclusion, the thesis discusses the effects of Walid b. Mughira's opposition on the early spread of Islam in Mecca and evaluates his place in early Islamic history. This work aims to make a significant contribution to the research on the early opponents of Islam.
