Abstract (EN)
This study investigated changes in age- and sex-related biometrics of morphometric and volumetric development of VT from birth to 18 years of age, using anatomical structures constraining VT. Individuals aged 0-18 years who underwent cranial MR imaging in Bursa Uludağ University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Radiology between 2012 and 2020 were retrospectively examined. 700 subjects (369 Males, 331 Females) who had 3D-T1 sequences and were radiologically normal were included in the study. All linear measurements were made using 3DSlicer and volumetric measurements were made using the MRICloud program. In Toplam, 13 linear measurements and 3 index calculations were made. A Toplam of 23 groups were formed as 8 groups of 6 months each between the ages of 0-3 and 15 groups between the ages of 4-18. The most important findings of our study; 1) All parameters were found to increase with age, except for the narrowing of the posterior part of the anterior wall of the VT and the diameter of the VT. 2) VT has been shown to grow rapidly in the first year of life, then slow to grow. 3) We confirmed the insignificant gender-related effect and the significant age-related effect on VT measurements. 4) VT type with narrow anterior and lower margins of VT was found the most in the pediatric group. There are studies stating that the anatomy of VT is changed in various diseases. Linear and volumetric data of VT can help determine whether VT is within the normal range for age.
