Investigation of forest crimes in Vezirköprü Forest Management Directorate between 2008-2022

Forests have been the sources that meet the needs of human beings such as cooking, heating, making primitive hand tools, sheltering and hunting since the earliest times of human existence. This benefit has been unlimited for many years and forests have been affected by this unlimited benefit. During the Ottoman Empire, the concept of "Cibali Mübaha" was used in the utilization of the forests of our country. In this process, legal regulations that do not concern the majority of the society were introduced. Especially with the entry into force of the Forest Regulation in 1870, this understanding came to an end and issues such as how to benefit from forests were regulated. The first forest law came into force with the law numbered 3116 in the Republican period and although some changes were made in its articles from time to time, it remained in force until the Forest Law No. 6381 in 1957 came into force. In this study, forest crimes defined in Law No. 6831 for the borders of Vezirköprü Forestry Management Directorate between 2008-2022 were analyzed. Within the scope of the study, 1013 criminal records were examined. 750 of the cases related to these minutes examined resulted in convictions and the crimes were finalized. In this study, the analysis of the crimes was carried out on 750 files with convictions. As a result of the study, it was concluded that the most common crime record in total was related to the crime of Occupation and Utilization with a rate of 47%, followed by the crime of Cutting with a rate of 28%. According to the seasons, it has been determined that the most committed crime is in the autumn season. As a result of the study, suggestions were presented in terms of activities related to forest protection.
