Abstract (EN)

The system which would be used for cooling and heating the villas in Mardin city was choosen according to the research done on solar assisted cooling systems. It also includes a single effect absorption chiller which uses LiBr as an absorbent and water as a refrigerant. Moreover, it makes use of solar energy as a thermal energy resource. Both economic and thermodinamic analysis of absorption cooling system were carried out and the generator driving temperature was determined according to the outlet temperature of solar collectors. Available solar energy was found out by the help of a simulation written in MATLAB. Taking into account these results, optimum number of collectors and volume of storage tank is was defined. Yearly performance of the system was investigated when running with either evacuated tube collectors or flat plate collectors. Finally, economic analysis for the system was done by calculating investment and operational costs. Keywords: Absorption chiller, LiBr-water, solar collector, economic analysis.
